External Spline Motor Shaft

External Spline Motor Shaft

The external spline motor shaft is one of the most common power output interfaces in industry. It transmits the motor’s rotational power through standardized external spline teeth to couplings, gears, or pulleys. Our external spline motor shafts are widely used in automation equipment, conveyor systems, printing machines, and packaging machinery. Our goal is to provide excellent interchangeability, reliable high-torque transmission, and simplified modular design.

Product Introduction

Standard Interface for Modular Connections

The external spline motor shaft is one of the most common power output interfaces in industry. It transmits the motor's rotational power through standardized external spline teeth to couplings, gears, or pulleys.

Our external spline motor shafts are widely used in automation equipment, conveyor systems, printing machines, and packaging machinery. Our goal is to provide excellent interchangeability, reliable high-torque transmission, and simplified modular design.

Spline Teeth Made to Global Standards

We specialize in machining a wide range of internationally standardized splines. For involute splines, we follow ISO 4156, DIN 5480, and ANSI B92.1 standards. We are also experienced in producing straight-sided splines.

Using precision hobbing or gear grinding, we ensure that tooth profile error, lead error, and cumulative pitch error meet high precision grades (typically ISO 5–7).

For critical applications, we offer tooth grinding. After grinding, the surface roughness (Ra) is below 0.4 μm, resulting in reduced wear and extended service life of mating components.

Strong Materials for Start-Stop Cycles

To withstand high torque and frequent start-stop cycles, we primarily use alloy structural steels such as 42CrMo and 20MnCr5.

First, quenching and tempering are applied to achieve a core hardness of HRC 30–35, ensuring good toughness. Then, high-frequency induction hardening or carburizing is performed on the spline teeth, increasing surface hardness to HRC 55–60. The hardened layer depth is controlled between 0.8–1.5 mm.

Splines treated in this way offer excellent resistance to wear, pitting, and torsional stress.

We Control Every Detail

In addition to spline machining, we carefully control the dimensions of every shaft section. Bearing journal tolerances are typically maintained at h6 or even h5. Cylindricity is controlled within 0.005 mm, and shaft shoulder face runout is kept below 0.01 mm.

We provide both standard products and fully customized solutions. Your external spline shaft will be fully compatible with standard components across the global supply chain.
